Here are some of the things to keep in mind as you plan your trip to Haiti
“Getting there”
Served by: Spirit, American Airlines, American Eagle, Copa, Haiti Trans Air, Halisa Air, Air Canada, Air France, Air Caraibes, ALM, Hanair, Lynx, Insel Air and Delta Airline.
Airport: Two international Airports, in the Capital (P-A-P) where we will get you in case you would want to come alone & in Cap-Hatian.
Main Ports: Port-au-Prince, Cap-Haitian, Miragoane.
Entry Documents: Americans & Canadians need proof of citizenship i.e. passport and/or birth certificate. Visas are not required for nationals of Mexico, Israel, Sweden, Switzerland, Canada, all CARICOM countries, Spain & USA.
Driving: On the right – Canada and U.S driver’s license is valid.
Official Language: French and Creole; English is spoken in the Capital.
Currency: Haitian Gourde – U.S. dollars widely accepted.
Tipping and taxes: There is a government tax of 10 per cent and hotels will add a service charge of 5 per cent to your bill. Restaurant tabs should be tipped 6-10 per cent, if not already added. Tip anyone, taxi drivers if you find them helpful.
Telephone: You should put 3 in front of any cellphone number in Haiti, if not already had. From the U.S. dial 011-509+3 plus the seven digit. Put 001 or 1 to make a call from Haiti to the U.S.
